RV Propane Usage

I found the following usage estimates:

Fridge use is about 1.5 pounds per day.

Furnace use is about 1.5 pounds per hour, it does not matter what temperature it is set on it matters how long it runs.

Water heater is about .5 pounds per hour.

Stove/oven not sure but it is in the range of .25 pounds per hour.

Norcold N611 “No Cooling” Reset

Recently, I made the mistake of turning the RV fridge on without closing the doors. A day later, the on light was blinking 5 times. A quick google search told me the problem. The fridge had been unable to cool down, and locked out the cooling unit. The reset had to be done at the main control board. The procedure I found for most models did not apply to the control board in my fridge. I did find one post that gave me a clue. Here is a summary followed by the detailed procedure to reset the “no cooling” fault.

1. Turn the Fridge OFF

2. Remove the AC power connect from the control board

3. Remove the 12V power connections from the control board

4. Remove the spark/sense wire from the control board

5. Remove the control board cover, in my case only 2 of the 4 screws remove the cover, the other 2 hold up the board itself.

6. Re-connect the spark/sense wire

7. Re-connect the 12V power wires

8. Re-connect the AC power

9. Turn the fridge ON

10. With a piece of stranded, insulated wire, jump pin 2 of connector P2 to ground. I used 12 AWG stranded wire. Pin 2 of the P2 connector is second from the right on the top left white plug. Hold for 10 seconds, listen for a click sound, indicating the fridge reset.

11. Turn the fridge OFF

12. Turn the fridge ON

13. If the fridge still shows “no cooling” fault, repeat from step 9.

14. Turn the fridge OFF

15. Disconnect AC power from the control board

16. Disconnect 12V power from the control board

17. Disconnect the spark/sense wire from the control board

18. Re-install the control board cover

19. Re-connect the spark/sense wire

20. Re-connect 12V power

21. Re-connect AC power

22. Resume fridge operation

I hope this helps someone.

ConnectBot, SSH for Android

I have been using ConnectBot on my Droid 4 for a while. I keep forgetting what the key shortcuts are, so here is a list:

OK = Ctrl

Vol Up = Increase Text Size

Vol Down = Decrease Text Size

Screen Shortcuts

Screen is a very handy program for running terminal commands that may take a while and being able to reconnect if accidentally disconnected. It can also be used for running multiple sessions within one terminal.

Starting a New Session: screen

Disconnecting: Ctrl-A, d or OK-A, d on ConnectBot Droid 4

Listing Current Sessions: screen -ls

Reconnecting: screen -r <screen_name> or screen -r if there is only one session
